My paperwork shows the following as possible numbers:
    Experian: 888 397 3742
    Equifax: 888 766 0008
    TransUnion: 800 680 7289

I also know that the bureaus have been charging for some states and not others. SC is free for all three to freeze. With Lynn’s recent move, could this be affecting it?

I have one client who was born in Belfast N Ireland…I had to freeze him over the phone w a supervisor. And another who was too old (101) to be done on line.

Thomas – the question is not about the mechanics of Quicken or other recording method for the pro bono work. But rather about whether to track is as a write off or just no longer track it.

For Fiduciary services, I bill by the hour as I typically am answerable to the court and therefore need to itemize. For regular PDMM work, I try to bill a flat fee unless a special project is required where hourly is the only way to go.

I believe you have done what you can. I would have frozen the credit instead of paying life lock but that is just me, saving money!

It is sad when this happens but if the client does not want to press charges, you cannot do much more. Unless the client does not have capacity. Is there a POA actively involved or some other third party who can help convince the client to act?

Quicken for Mac tends to be a few releases behind and therefore less functionality. I have one client who uses it. All my others allow me to do the work on my machine and I provide monthly reports. I do take my laptop in the few cases where they do not want electronic downloads. Otherwise, I do the downloads and pay bills from my office via my laptop.

Please realize that the MAC version will gain functionality now that Quicken has spin off from Intuit. I hope we see significant changes to both MAC and Windows now where the Intuit focus tended to be on Quickbooks.

Quicken works great for multiple clients. Just create a new file per client. Then put all their accounts within it!

Quickbooks is best for business clients. However, tracking investments can only be done in Quicken so if you have a blended client, you may have some decisions to make!

I much prefer Quicken when given the choice. It is easier to explain to clients and more flexible for reporting, etc.
