Barbara, thanks for your response… I do actually have Google alerts set up! I also have one set up for elder fraud and most of those articles recommend a POA, trusted friend and/or financial advisor. Seems like many news publications have no knowledge of DMMs, which shouldn’t be the case 6 years after I started this career. I think more elder care professionals know about us on the local level but I’m interested in reaching those with a more tangential relationship to the elderly who can then recommend our services as well as their adult children.
That Kiplinger article is fantastic. I’ll be doing a presentation soon and I’ll print it out to cite from or use as a handout, thanks for the link!

Karen, I like the idea of commenting and I’ve thought about reaching out to the author of any pertinent articles (and I will try to do this) but as we know, owning your own business doesn’t leave much time for extra-curriculars! I feel like this is something national should be doing and isn’t.
I’m not sure what committees there are specifically but I would think there is (or there’s room for) one that would handle this, with the internet it’s not hard to find articles and reach out to journalists and we could sign up if we’re willing to be interviewed/profiled so AADMM could direct those writers to those of us in their geographic area. I want to see my dues going towards something tangible! That article Alison linked to is an example but it’s from 2 and a half years ago!The panel suggestion is good as well, I try to leave my materials places and I’m working on a few presentations in the new year.

Thanks for that information… I really want to be able to use the title of Daily Money Manager without a whole explanation afterwards, especially since it’s hard to sum up in a few words. Looking forward to the website, etc!

Roxanne, I’ll look around some more. I’ve been thinking of teaming up with someone to present at a library or senior center.
Caitlin, I’d rather not work remotely, I find that means adding on access to bank accounts etc that most clients at least in the beginning aren’t comfortable turning over. It’s a catch 22 as far as being mutually beneficial as well because I feel like I don’t have enough clients to offer to other professionals! But I will try that approach.
Jennifer, Thank you! I’ll look into your suggestions but I totally agree with your second paragraph… I’ve always been found by children or other professionals. Since I moved out here though I’ve met a ton of professionals but they never seem to have any clients for me even though they’re impressed by the idea of a DMM and seem to like me. I know it can take several times to get a rapport with someone but I’m finding it hard to believe they don’t know any clients that could use this service.
I feel like we’re the only two who use this board Karen! I went through my linkedin and business cards but no one… Hope you found someone!

I thought about a guardianship, I don’t feel comfortable taking on that role myself though, I guess the court would have to appoint someone. I’ll look into it more for the county though, thank you for that suggestion.
Thomas, that was what I was leaning towards doing. I wasn’t sure if a regular CD player would play it but I don’t see why not (I believe I recollect that as long as you make it final and not ‘re-writeable’ it’s fine. I have a Mac but I’ll investigate further. I’m sure there’s a way to do it from itunes even. Thank you.
She does not, Peter. I saw a suggestion for Alexa when I was googling ideas as well. I wish, but her speech issues from her stroke may prevent anything voice activated from being too helpful either.
