I have 2 clients using the TrueLink card at the present time. One is for a couple’s care giver so they do not have to give her check or cash everyday they want her to go to the store. It accomplished a couple of things besides no cash/checks needed. One issue was they were asking the caregiver to drive them to the bank and then the woman would go in and withdraw a lot of cash ($300 – $1,500). Found she was giving too much money to her daughter (client’s daughter) this was one way of stopping the caregiver from taking her to the bank.
My other client was having an issue with his ‘friends’ expecting him to be buying fast food or restaurant food for them instead of truly splitting the bills. It was to the tune of $3-400 per month when I was hired. He was the oldest of them 67, some down to their mid 30s. I could set the Truelink to allow groceries but NOT restaurants. When he wanted to take his friend out to a birthday lunch, I allowed restaurant charges for the afternoon then turned it off when they were done.
I love the flexibility and the response by the support staff is pretty quick even after business hours. Just be sure to think of the funding lag over weekends, but even then in a pinch they can help some times.
