Hi All! Which version of Quicken would be best for my DMM business which has just simple clients (budgets, bill pay, account reconciliations)?
Thanks,
Danielle Davis

I use Excel spreadsheets and Word docs to track all my hours; expenses; and income. I realize that Quicken, QuickBooks, and other financial management tools may necessary or desirable for many, but I am choosing to stay in my comfort zone for the time being.
Best wishes for success!

I use Quicken Premier for my personal/family finances, because I track our investment accounts with it. I have set two of my clients up on it too, but they have just checking/savings accounts. I use Quicken to keep track of their spending and for budgeting. My one client’s accountant loves the reports that I send him at the end of the year.
For my business I use QuickBooks Pro (desktop). I also have a small business client on it. I have two other small businesses on QuickBooks Online. I am a pro-advisor so get wholesale pricing for them. When QuickBooks stops supporting the version of QB desktop I have, I may move my business to QB Online because it is free for Pro Advisors.
I just looked at the current pricing for Quicken for a prospective client and it is now an annual fee. I have Quicken 2017 which I paid for one time, but they will stop sending updates in a year or so and I’ll be forced to upgrade because the bank feed will no longer work. I called Quicken to see if the annual fee is for one person or could I still set up several accounts like I have currently. I was assured that I could set up multiple files with one subscription.
As to Deluxe vs. Premier: With Premier you get Quicken Bill Pay, but if you use Deluxe you have to pay extra for the bill pay. I don’t use Quicken’s bill pay; I use my bank’s online bill pay service.
There are many things to consider! Hope this helps.

April 26, 2018 at 12:02 pm #12582Catherine KreinSpectatorThank you Patricia! This certainly does help. My clients want mainly Budgeting and Bill Pay services. However, Bill Pay can usually be set up via the clients checking/savings account for free. I haven’t called Quicken yet, but I’m sure that in the future if I wanted to use the Bill Pay or Investment features that Premier offers, it should be nothing more than a simple upgrade.
April 27, 2018 at 1:10 am #12584Meryl SchafferSpectatorI find Quicken Deluxe to be perfect for my clients. I prefer to use Banks for Bill Pay, so don’t need that feature.
I believe you were just asking for use with your clients, but if you are also thinking about your business, I would definitely recommend Quickbooks or another small business accounting tool before Quicken for your own business books. I am a big QB Online fan.
