Hi Everyone,
A client has asked for help in reviewing the Medicare Part D Plan for 2019 to make sure she has the best coverage based on her current list of medications. There seem to be so many options out there, is there an easier way to compare pricing from one year to the next?
Thank you so much!

It is not very easy for our clients to use this tool, but pretty easy for us.

If you find the “compare Part D plans” section on the general Medicare website, you can enter her medicines there and it will show you the different plans. There is a code that you will want to jot down so that you can access the drug list again.
Good luck!

Also, every state has an agency that helps people with their Medicare choices. It’s called different things in different states but is often referred to as SHIP. SHIPs are free, state counseling services that help seniors understand their Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap (Medicare Supplemental Insurance) and Medicaid benefits.

Another option not mentioned here is her pharmacy. If they have the Amplicare software they can do the analysis for her. We had a client’s pharmacy do the analysis and she will save $3K this year in premiums and co-pays.November 27, 2018 at 9:07 am #12821Rita KuehnisSpectatoranother option is to have someone from your “council on aging” assist.

I also ask Brian VandeHei. He is a senior health insurance agent, he is very knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions. Here is his linkedin info https://www.linkedin.com/in/brian-vandehei-85352632/ and his email is bvandehei@yahoo.com
He is not the pushy insurance agent, he works with many of us that have senior clients all the time. -
