I have a client who is looking into a health cost sharing-based indemnification plan. It is not insurance. There are defined shares as compared with premiums. I find providers that I am aware of on the PPO list, but without contacting each one< I am unaware of they participate despite being listed.
Does anyone have thoughts, questions, comments, concerns. My lack of familiarity militates against me confirming this plan.
Plan = Medi-Share (TM) out of Melbourne, FL, see also https://mychristiancare.org
Thanks in advance for any a time and efforts.

I don’t have much information to offer, but besides Medi-Share, which a friend of mine uses, there is Samaritan Ministries and Christian Healthcare Ministries (and probably many others). Here is the latter’s page on how it works: http://www.chministries.org/howitworks.aspx Best regards!

Warrenton, VAFebruary 26, 2018 at 8:29 pm #12483Gregory LeisSpectatorI decided to try a health share plan last year. I’ve been with Liberty Healthshare for over a year now and have been happy with it. I’ve not had any major health issues and do not have any chronic diagnosis. I was pleasantly surprised when they paid for majority of my annual well-woman exam. In addition, I did have one visit to my primary doctor for a minor issue. The doctor’s office understood the concept and gave me the ‘private pay’ rate with no hassles. I will say that it’s definitely been an eye opener into rate discrepancies charged through health insurance companies.

I completely agree that the difference in self pay vs. what the insurance companies are charged is eye opening. This type of sharing gives you the ability to choose your own doctors and shop for the best prices for procedures. The monthly share amount is much less than conventional insurance. You need to look at each one carefully to determine the best fit. Some cover alternative treatments and some don’t. Some cover well care but most don’t. You just budget for that in your monthly budget.
