Have you claimed your business on Google yet? I’m told it’s important because Google is more than a search engine, it’s a free business directory that allows you to manage how your business presents itself in Google Search and Google Maps. So, managing your Google business listing is an important component of your online presence. I finally got around to claiming mine today, but was disappointed that “DMM” is missing from the list of business categories (from which you must choose). I am also a Professional Organizer, so I chose that category … but what about DMM’s who don’t have another label? I haven’t found a way to suggest additional categories to Google (though I found others with similar issues, e.g. “Robotics”).

I suppose I’m just venting as we can’t fix this … but I am curious to know if anyone has come up with another category that might work.

    Roxanne,

I did claim my business on google and that was when the calls started. I get several calls a week from SEO types across the country. So there are pros and cons to claiming the business!

I also had issues with Google not recognizing the common name for my bus street address. They wanted to call it “country road #…” instead. Many phone calls later, I gave up! I don’t live in a small town!!!

    Signed,
    Baffled Betty
