    Hello fellow agency owners –
    We are working on how to make our invoices more concise and our invoicing process more efficient. With over 100 clients, it takes a long time to get the invoices out the door. I would be interested in talking with other agency owners with large client bases about what they put on the invoice and their process for preparing and reviewing them.

    I’m just a one-woman show but is that something you could automate through a workflow process program such as 17hats or something like that? Some of the workflow programs sync with quickbooks or quicken, allow for time tracking, and can automate things like that. I tend to be detailed on my invoices so at this stage it wouldn’t work for me but maybe since you’re larger you might already have “canned” detail for the invoices that could just be automated and then you could review the time tracking reports for accuracy etc. Not sure if this is what you need but it might help.

    Thanks, Julianne. This is exactly the issue – how much detail to put on the invoice, how to generate the detail if someone asks for it, and how to standardize the text across a large team. We are experimenting with various ways to do this to see what works for us!
