Deposition Subpoena for Client Records

Does anyone have experience of how to respond to deposition subpoenas for production of business records? I’ve been served a subpoena to produce the business records of my client. How does one handle confidentiality issues of one’s client when ordered by the court to produce the client’s records? I’m located in California.

There are different types of subpoenas (at least there are in New York). Best to contact the court before proceeding.
