I am new to DMM and I am completing my contract. My attorney, under the payment heading, has input that “payment shall be paid within 10 days from receipt”, now I know most of the DMM’s I have spoken with receive payment at the time of service. I was wondering how did you input that into your contract. When I mentioned this to my attorney, he said by stating that I am showing that I am suggesting a lack of trust….well if I don’t know a new person of course there will be a lack of trust….your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Why do you need to insert this (ability to pay at time of service) into your contract? The contract defines the latest that the receipt can be paid. That’s all. You can always let clients know they can pay at time of service if they like.

    Hi Kelly,

Welcome to AADMM and Congrats on being a new DMM!!

Most of my clients pay at time of service and this isn’t an issue since payment arrangements are discussed at the initial consultation. Some clients prefer to receive an invoice after the service, and on the invoice (which I’ve discussed with the client previously) I include a time limit when payment must be received. I prefer having the flexibility to do this and would not want to include specific language in my general contract.
