Hi,
I have a potential client who is a long-time user of Quicken. She has a few rental properties and residences, a small business (as an artist), and personal financial data she enters into this program. She’d like me to assist her and eventually take over her bookkeeping.I rely on QuickBooks as a default with other business clients, but would like to know how I would go about serving her remotely with her Quicken file.
(I’d actually like to know how I would do this with multiple client files, if anyone has experience there).
Thanks!

The new Quicken app now allows multiple clients files with one user account. You can have the app on your desktop, tablet or smartphone and choose which file to log into. It’s very handy! Go to http://www.quicken.com to get more information.Best,

If my client wants to maintain her file on her own computer, my understanding is she will have her own Quicken ID to open that file. If I want to open her file remotely to work on it, my thinking would go something like this: she keeps her company file in or saves it to a shared Dropbox-type folder, and then I could open it locally from there by logging in with her Quicken ID. Is this how Quicken works?
I love the shared feature but am I understanding correctly that this works only when your clients give you total control over their data and have no interest in logging in themselves?
November 3, 2018 at 11:29 pm #12793Leona O’ConnorSpectatorI am not sure about this. Most of my clients have no interest in looking at their own Quicken data, and for those who do, I work on site for them accessing Quicken through their own computers. I would think that the Dropbox share folder option would work, but not really sure. I would check with Quicken support to find out for sure.

It seems with the new Quicken, each client would need their own Quicken ID and log in. They could have it on their computer and you could log into the app with their log in. You could then work on the file, assuming they sync the file to the cloud after they use it. The other work around that many have done is to store the data file in Dropbox and share the data file. I am not sure how that works with the new Quicken as I have held off on upgrading. Though I will do it before the end of the year. There are limitations with the app based on what we saw. For example, very limited report options so it isn’t a complete program.

Except I have some clients with PC’s and some with Apple computers (I have both computers but so far only have Quicken for PC) so I was looking for a way to access Quicken on both computer types. I thought this would have to be a independent logmein type program… anyone have experience with this program or anything similar? My experience with the app was also very limited information.
