I am wondering if anyone is using Ever Safe to protect their clients’ or their own accounts. A client of mine received a notice that their check was stolen amongst many from his attorney’s building’s mail room. The perpetrator, arrested for real estate fraud and not connected to stealing mail, also had blank check stock and a check printing machine in his possession. The client was advised to take precautions (whatever that may mean).

We are considering using Ever Safe’s plan to monitor the client’s checking accounts as a safety mechanism.

Ever Safe has been a sponsor of our national conferences and seems like a good product. Anyone with experience with Ever Safe?

I am very familiar with EverSafe. I’ve used EverSafe to protect my own accounts. EverSafe is much broader than just an identity theft service. In the example you provided, it puts the client’s checking account balance at risk. EverSafe will alert to unusual changes in the checking account as well as the opening of any new accounts under the client’s name. My suggestion would be for you to contact EverSafe – they can help you devise a strategy to deal with the issue and also assist with getting your client onto EverSafe.

If it is just a particular checking account to monitor, see if the online banking options allow you to set up alerts for transactions over a certain amount and send out emails/text messages. If so, and it is just the one account (not their entire digital identity), this could be a simple automated alerting system.

I too would recommend EverSafe. I worked closely with them while I was on the conference committee and the year I was chair of the annual conference. Terrific company with a great service!

I think bank alerts are a good idea, but never enough. EverSafe is on the lookout for fraud across financial accounts and credit cards (exploiters who are successful rarely just steal from just one account). They will also send fraud alerts to designated trusted advocates and they do daily dark web scans.

Thank you for your thoughtful responses. I am looking into all options and will be taking action quickly!
