After the conference we purchased Quicken 2018. We have been using Quicken 2017 for some time – we use the Mac version. We had a separate QuickenID associated with each of our client files and that worked well. With Quicken 2018, if we use a different QuickenId for each file, it wants us to buy an upgrade for every one. I just spoke with Quicken support and they verified that this is the case. Has anyone else moved to 2018? If so, how are you handling the QuickenIDs? I’m guessing the same applies to the PC version, but I’m not sure.

After being told by Quicken Support that would be the process moving forward. I did speak to the quicken representative person at conference and she told that I would have to put then all under my one ID. She said that would work. She was surprised to learn that Quicken Support was informing customers that there was no work around.
I have not tried it yet as I haven’t had the time (I figure I am going to have to export and then import into new file under my ID) So I have been running 2017 for my clients using their login ID’s. Once I do get the time to move a file over I will try to update here to let you all know how it goes.

Alix
p.s. I do wish they would set up some kind of Dashboard type set up where we wouldn’t have to use one ID. I set it up using clients in case they ever want to walk away and manage their own money and while yes, they can purchase a version for themselves – they will have the added step of having to do an export/import as we are now having to do if we want to run them under one file
December 7, 2017 at 10:01 am #12321AnonymousInactiveI use my log in ID and password for all of my clients’ data files. I only have one client who wants to view the Quicken data using the mobile app, I shared my ID with her so she would not have to purchase Quicken. I felt safe doing that since she would have to get into my computer to use the ID to view other clients’ data and that is not going to happen. Hers is the only data file connected to mobile sync.
If I felt the need to have separate IDs for all my clients, I would simply send out an email and explain that there is a software cost associated with my work and then I would pass the cost on to the client. It’s done like that by professionals all the time.

I haven’t tried to use the feature, but I *think* it can sync with online to be able to use it with multiple devices. With multiple files under one ID, you’ll probably want to turn that feature off as it may get “confused” as to which file to sync with the cloud, as I *think* it only expects one file, and we’ll want to avoid intermixing files in any way.
December 7, 2017 at 11:55 am #12323AnonymousInactiveI also was told that we can have multiple Quicken files under one ID. In my case, however, we have 8 users in our company and Quicken told me that I can put one copy on three computers, so I bought three copies of Quicken 2018.
December 7, 2017 at 1:41 pm #12329Sally HirshSpectatorI recently upgraded to Quicken 2018 for PC. This new format is very similar to how QuickBooks Online works as well – you have to pay for different users/companies.
I have multiple clients saved under my Quicken User ID. I have them all set up as different “company files” in Quicken so I can keep all of their information separate. These clients do not use the app so that has not been an issue. I track everything for them and just provide reports and info as needed.
For your situation, you could perform a backup of each client under their login and then create a new company file for them under your ID and use the “restore from back-up” to get their info in to their new Quicken file under your ID. I have succesfully done this with client files that came from different versions of Quicken.
Please contact me if you need help- be happy share how I did it.December 7, 2017 at 4:24 pm #12333AnonymousInactiveHey everyone!
